THE ENVISIONIT CURRICULUM

Source: https://nisonger.osu.edu/research/envision-it/"Are you looking for a free, evidence-based, standards-aligned, college and career readiness curriculum? EnvisionIT (EIT) is available through Schoology, Google Drive, and Canvas to support the transition planning and career advising needs of your students. Teacher resources, including getting started guides, curriculum site maps, pacing guides, and sample student transition portfolios are available to help districts, schools, and educators implement a course within general and special education classrooms. Our Schoology Teachers Group also serves as a professional learning community to provide support and technical assistance. Sign up for a free Schoology account, and join our group with the following access code: Q933T-7PJSF

EIT may be implemented as a stand-alone course across an academic year or as two-semester electives. Curriculum content and activities may also be integrated into existing courses or delivered across grade levels to support a systematic approach to career advising and transition planning (e.g., age-appropriate transition assessments, measurable postsecondary goals, career research, resumes, cover letters, applications, soft skills, and more). Students develop a comprehensive Transition Portfolio with artifacts that may be leveraged to enhance the quality of Individualized Education Programs (i.e., transition assessments, goals, and services) and Student Success Plans. Transition Portfolios can be updated across grade levels, translated into digital presentations, and used to increase student engagement in career advising and transition planning meetings. Schools have implemented EIT in a variety of classroom settings and courses in middle and high schools, including Postsecondary Planning, Transitions & Careers, 21st Century Career Exploration, Career & College Readiness, Freshman Seminar, Advisory or Homeroom Period, Inclusive General Education ELA, and Special Education Transition Planning and Resource Rooms. While EIT is written at a middle school reading level, a Reduced Reading Level course model is also available to support students reading below a 6th-grade level. The full curriculum and several abbreviated course models provide flexible delivery options, and educators are encouraged to customize and curate their courses to meet the unique needs of their students.EIT is optimized for the Schoology Learning Management System but is also available in Canvas Commons and housed within our Google Drive Library for Google Classroom users: go.osu.edu/eitlibraryEnvisionIT."
